A three-quarters of a mile section of the A.T. along the Housatonic River was the first built to be universally accessible.
This flat section is located within Falls Village, which used to be the site of a large ironworks, below a 50-foot waterfall that is spectacular after heavy rain or snowmelt. Connecticut's hardwood forests exhibit vibrant foliage in autumn.
